Applications
Instructions for use: Although the Mobil SHC Gear range is compatible with mineral oil-based products, admixture can impair their performance. Therefore, it is recommended that prior to converting a system to a Mobil SHC Gear range product, thorough cleaning and flushing be carried out to obtain maximum performance benefits.
The high-performance synthetic gear oils in the Mobil SHC Gear range have been developed to provide excellent system protection and extended oil life, even under extreme conditions. They are specially designed to prevent micro-pitting of modern, case-hardened gears and can be used in operating conditions with high and low temperatures. Typical areas of application include:
• Modern highly stressed gears in the paper, steel, oil, textile, wood and cement industries, where gear protection and optimal oil service life are required
• Gearboxes in plastic extruders
The Mobil SHC Gear series ISO VG 150, 220, 320, 460 and 680 are approved according to General Electric (GE) gear oil specification D50E35 for use in the gearboxes of drive wheels off-road.

To address the issue of micropitting wear, our product formulation scientists designed a proprietary combination of additives which would resist traditional gear wear mechanisms as well as protecting against micropitting. Mobil SHC Gear products provide exceptional oil life and deposit control and resistance to thermal/oxidative and chemical degradation, as well as the balance of the performance features. The patent-pending combination of synthetic base oils also provides exceptional low temperature fluidity characteristics unmatched by conventional mineral oil gear lubricants and is a key benefit for remote, low ambient temperature applications
